Surprises me to be conservative and patriotic as I am. Yet still accepting of others who hold different opinions.
Retired, widowed, single dad here, wondering if the best is TRUELY in the past? Had some bumps, but still a great ride. Speaking of rides . . . LOL.

Are YOU the one to tell the tails of journeys past, while still keeping your eyes open for adventures yet to come? Fondly recalling the old route no longer passable, all the while anxiously awaiting the first run on the new road?
Let's take a slow cruise down by the old beach head, now forgotten, overgrown and washed over. Then putter on over to the new park, spotless and perfectly groomed, only to find that secluded spot - at the other end of the "optional" section.
I can see, in your eyes, in your smile, in your memories, the careless girl who has just found her freedom - and her wings. If you look close, you might see the young man, who has just regained his freedom, found his strength, and is King of his little world.

Nothing lasts forever. And it is true, you can never go back home. "Home", in this case, is simply a collection of our best memories of what once was. All our experiences - good and bad, great and terrible, contribute to who we are today. They keep us safe and secure. Bring us joy and happiness. Sometimes just for a fleeting moment, sometimes long term.
As long as we are still breathing, we are still making these memories and collecting these experiences. "If you're not busy living, you're busy dying." Today, I choose living. Breathing. Making memories and collecting experiences.
I still struggle, and I STILL haven't won that lottery (still not rich). But I've ALWAYS found a path to what I need. Always ready to try that new sample, taste that new flavor. Explore that new road. Give it one more try. Find the new options that are just now available to me.
