Honesty is an expensive gift, so don't expect it from a cheap person.
Because it always comes up, let me get this out of the way first; My marriage ended two years ago. She abandoned it. The ONLY reason my divorce isn't final is because my ex is court ordered to provide my health insurance until I reach Medicare age. I'm not bitter, resentful, living in the past or any of that baggage. She has her own place/life in another city. We've both moved on.
So, semi-retired now, I recently started a new job (Sept5). This is new, and wow... totally different. After a 40+ year career in engineering, at a desk behind a computer, I'm now working construction! Ah well, as Nietzsche said, "Was mich nicht umbringt, macht mich stärker."
hmm, lessee... I'm just a guy, pretty much an open book(I've been told maybe too open), don't like drama &/or mind games. Not a big sports fan, but I like to watch a good football game now and then.
I'm mostly quiet, introspective, like good conversation but am more the listener. I'm progressive/liberal... whatever you want to call left of center, but not a radical(politics is like driving; to go forward put it in D, to go backward put it in R). I don't smoke(can't stand it), and don't drink(don't mind if you do). I've been told I don't look my age, and been accused of not acting it either. :-Þ
My zen is riding my Harleys and I ride all year round. I love being in the wind riding the backroads and hilly two lanes around here and in eastern KY. But the Smokies are the best! Camping around Gatlinburg,TN or Cherokee,NC and cruising the mountains cleanses me. It's been awhile.
I also know my way around the kitchen, can build a fence, give good massage, like ripping through a woodpile with a chainsaw and splitter, going to live theatre (The Carnegie in Covington is a fave), and I listen. No, seriously... I really do listen.
I like to cook 'big-pot' stuff(chili, kale&mett&taters, ribs&kraut,etc), but learning new dishes and experimenting are kind of a hobby too. I'm told I make killer black bean soup!
Music is important to me. I have no formal training, but I knock around on my guitars anyway(I have four acoustic, and one hollow body electric) because it drowns out my singing! :-o I also like swimming(have my own in-ground pool), playing in the dirt[gardening], working outdoors[e.g. cutting/splitting firewood], working on my 100+ yr old farmhouse(a work in progress), and people watching.
I like being active, doin' stuff... but every now and then I'll just 'lump' on the couch zoned out to the TV. It's like a little mental vacation. I might 'accidentally' fall into the pool and waste away an afternoon on a float too.

I don't think I can describe exactly what a first date would entail except that it would include meeting in a public place, maybe for coffee, maybe dinner. Maybe just ice cream.
My last/most recent first date was meeting at a theatre for a new play opening. It included a members dinner (attended by approx 16 other folks), catered by a local chef, in one of the theatre's art display rooms. After the play we went to an excellent restaurant for dessert and talk.
I've also met for coffee & ice cream and then gone for a motorcycle ride, with a stop for BBQ at Rabbit Hash, KY.
